After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Quick Release Leashes Are

Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

Late storms and rain has blown out Sixx this morning but Sixx might come back in shortly as the water draining from the foothills and locally subsides. Chance of rain today is in the forecast and there is a likelihood of a Chatfiled flow increase possibly into the low 500 range. (Will update the forecast

Slight increase from Chatty makes day of surf at RRP today thru Fri morning!! Clouds and light wind mean, need some sort of wetsuit coverage in needed. Sixx is the place to surf… Please be considerate of your time on the wave when it is your turn up, that should vary with the lineup size….

Sixx will be great all day. Chiclets will be fun. Benni’s if shaped will also be fun. Weather looks sunny w/ highs climbing to mid/upper 80°’s with some afternoon clouds going back to sunny after that. Water temp at RRP in June starts out cold in the mornings at 60° and rises to upper 60°’s

(In skateboarding, if you miss your very first trick and fall, you get a “rebate” to start your run again)… So if you missed Tuesday’s surf and incredible shaped wave with an all day raging surf session at Sixx, make sure you surf it early Wednesday’s dawn patrol. If there is any change to the

Sixx will be still in play. Might need a slight tune in the early/mid afternoon. Benni’s needed shaping yesterday (not sure if got it) but if did, should be good today. Chiclets looked fun yesterday and will be even better today. Look for a slight lower flow by 1pm-ish. LBK

If you like Sixx, time is now to surf it at 550ish cfs. Tuesday, call in sick, take personal time off for a few hours, and go get Sixx early in the morning…. Will update with the official Chatty release when we get it… SURF TRIVIA: Name the famous Colorado surfband from the 1960’s? Where

Official word just sent. Be patient on Sixx shape today and even Benni’s. All the WaveShaper volunteers are busy trying to bring home the bacon Guess it is time for us to ask for some more waveshapers who work night shift… Chiclets might be all time????

River surfing is all about having fun. Luckily there are no “Rick Kanes” in river surfing. Nobody is going to become a pro river surfer. Keep it real…. Longmont locals have invited river surfers to head north of Denver to surf with them at an albeit small but fun wave on the St. Vrain. On

Strontia just dropped by 70cfs at 8am. Brent will at least match Chatty and that might put RRP at 650cfs+/- or lower later today and will be surfable. Indicators are we might even get lower flow out of the dam! Keep an eye on the RRP gauge and pole cam to confirm. Actually people were

Keep an eye on Sixx. Slim possibility it will come in.
