After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Quick Release Leashes Are

Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

The official/formal word just received. Getting a 100cfs more from Chatty today that was released at 10:15am. With the S. Platte rain bump from last night and rain water working its way down from the foothills, the current Union (RRP) gauge is somewhere around 330cfs….. Should see continued 300cfs-ish and possibly 400cfs+/- at RRP at

Heavy rains late yesterday right before and after the metro area fireworks and then into the night, flushed out Sixx at dawn; however the flow is dropping and appears will be surfable soon or is surfable now. Benni’s might be in. Chiclets will be foam piled out for a bit this morning. Will update later

You might be wondering if you should learn how to pop-up for river surfing. After all, there are quite a few great river waves you can ride without ever having to, so it may not seem necessary. But I recommend that you do for the following reasons: So, I actually decided to take up river

Enjoy the surf responsibly today!!! Sixx is cranking good. Reports of 5 minute rides on Chiclets this morning. Benni’s prob needs a bit more zing in the shape but is surfable. And a couple of fools were headed to Bingo Wave this morning to try to score some surf (actually try to score some parking)….

Independence Day where we celebrate the birth of our nation. Surf is up on the morning and we hope it holds all day. Will update later if they change the dam release. Sixx shape was experimented with yesterday for the lower flow yet good flow of 265+/-cfs, to come up with a steep/fast/fun face. Pole

No time stated by Colorado Division of Water Resources. But look for 10am out the dam and lower flow hitting RRP by 1pm. Six will need tune but surfable. Benni’s will likely need a tune and will be surfable Chiclets will improve. Look for rain in forecast tomorrow and who knows what bump from the

Another hot and sunny day. Watching the indicators to see if any flow changes will be made but morning to early afternoon looks surfable…. RRP gauge is showing a respectable 325+/-cfs on the gauge. Sixx was shaped for this level late yesterday. Benni’s was looking darn good also. Chiclets looks surfable and has a green

Chatty drop basically still keeps RRP in play. Sixx will need a tune later today. Benni’s will likely need a tune and skate in will be probably the way to surf it. Chiclets be bet better today. Longmont’s “All Day Wave” was surfed yesterday by locals Fred and Melissa. River surfing is truly all about

Sunny Saturday surf at RRP into dawn patrol/morning Sunday. Sixx will be in epic; Benni’s will be fun and usually has no lineup when Sixx is crowded; Chiclets has a fun left green face that is surfable and might grow wider when surfing. (Note- will be keeping surf trivia Q&A but will be adding a

Good news. Depending on how the rains come and go today, Sixx should be surfable soon through Sat. morning. Again, all depends on how quickly rain passes buy late this morning…. WAX UP YOUR BOARDS!
