Denver Surf Report is now on Substack https://surfcollusionzine.substack.com
The Denver Surf Report has narrowed its focus to basically the metro-Denver area.
BELOW ARE FAQ’s on Denver Surf Report new location:
Why did we end as Supercritical Flows? For a hot moment there, we wanted to become the Surfline for river surfing and live a life of lavish river surfing until the day we die… Reality, it was not worth the effort trying to create a river surfing version of Surfline. People were not using Supercritical Flows for its intended purpose of informing river surfers about different surfable river wave breaks. So if people want to be selfish about their favorite river wave(s), then have at it folks. Don’t build the local river surfing scenes and let the local river waves deteriorate to one day not be surfable; that prerogative is on the kookals….
What is a “KOOKAL”? People who pretend to be heavy locals at waves they don’t live at. Kookals try to import localism where localism does not belong or isn’t even theirs to be locals (because they don’t live there). River surfing unfortunately has a “kookalism” problem. Not saying all river surfers are “kookals” but you know a “kookal” when you see one and where it is happening.
Do you still get the forecasted flows often hours before it is seen hitting the gauges? Yes, I still get the Chatfield Dam releases and the same intel for the Pueblo Dam releases before you see it on the gauges.
But how do surfers get the surf reports for RRP and Waterworks Park, etc? Go to The Denver Surf Report and subscribe while it is free and when I update forecasted flows, you will get an e-mail alert… It is free now, but I might charge a fee later depending on how generous I feel or not generous. Look for the forecasts to start back up in late March or early April.
Do all reports get detailed release information? Nope, just RRP and Pueblo!!!
Pueblo is iffy!!!! The Pueblo Reservoir Dam release info I provide is on the chopping block since the Pueblo City Council passed a draconian CGA certified PFD rule that was signed into law by the Pueblo Mayor. No locals showed to contest the new law requiring you to use Coast Guard Certified personal floatation devices (CGS PFDs) that includes when river surfing the new wave at Waterworks. Personally, I am not going to go surf Pueblo if I am forced to have to use a kayak life jacket, so why should waste my time posting up daily Pueblo Dam release info?????
Will you get daily updates if you subscribe to the Substack Denver Surf Report? Yes for RRP and maybe for Pueblo (a big maybe)
If you see me on the waves (river or concrete), let me know how you like or dislike the Substack Denver Surf Report….

REMEMBER….. RIVER SURFING IS DANGEROUS AND CAN BE DEADLY- educate yourself before trying to river surf… don’t just blindly copy other river surfers… figure out how to safely river surf each individual spot (including different flows)….. and be critical in your decisions of what gear to use and not to use…… WHEN IN DOUBT, DON’T GO OUT!
