After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Quick Release Leashes Are

Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

Today should be similar to Saturday w/ flows about the same out of Chatfield Reservoir. Will update later when the actual official release is received but look for RRP to be at 800ish to 900ish cfs Sunday. RRP- Big Benni’s was shaped perfect Sat and has a tall stinger/tail with a bowled out face and

The “formal” word from DWR rolled in late today. Looks like Brent only slightly reduced Chatfield flow to match the Strontia reduction this AM. Surf will be similar to yesterday. Too much water for Sixx. Big Benni’s is the place to surf but might need a tune. Bingo is good. Larger boards are best there.

Flow will be too much for Sixx. Big Benni’s should be surfable but might need a waveshaper tune-up. Bingo in Golden is sketch but surfable. Be careful there and educate yourself before attempting it. See: http://endlesswaves.net/waves/golden-whitewater-park/ Trestles is in but it is a no joke wave. See: http://endlesswaves.net/waves/trestle-wave/ Pueblo is still without water but we

This is the second part of the series about “localism” and how it is part of river surfing, though rarely… Again a quiz. Are these events localism? Most of the time, localism in river surfing is rather rare, but unfortunately it does happen. And when it does appear in river surfing, the localism is hidden

Surf is likely blown out but Big Benni’s might be worth a check, though will likely need a waveshaper tune. Heavy rains late last night flooded into the S Platte River from the tributaries and raised the flow back up. The flow is dropping but, with the 800cfs from Chatty this morning and more rain

This series will dive into “localism” and how it is part of river surfing for bad and for good. Too often surfers in general don’t understand what surfing localism really is, especially river surfers. First a quiz. Are these events localism? Localism is not specific to surfing. It happens in sports, communities, businesses, and government.

Sidewalks, skateparks, pools, pump tracks, backyard ramps, ditches, and street spots all will be going off today on annual Go Skateboarding day that happens June 21st every year. Get some skateboarding in today or at least show some respect and love to anyone you happen to see skateboarding. Chatty release remains high today, Wednesday, at

(Update for Wave Sixx) Ride The Wild Surf, Big Benni’s at 730cfs is incredibly fun! Chiclet’s might start to show some face (no promises though). Sixx is still out of play need like less than 660cfs to think about surfing Sixx but keep an eye on the Six Pole cam starting today and moving into

Celebrate Juneteenth and contemplate the meaning and contribution of African Americans. Big Benni’s was surfed yesterday basically at the level we will see today and got a late Sunday WaveShaper tune by Adam. Flow will remain high as water input into Chatfield is running high. What comes in still is having to go out. Miracle

Ride The Wild Surf, Big Benni’s at 730cfs is incredibly fun! Chiclet’s might start to show some face (no promises though). Sixx is still out of play need like less than 660cfs to think about surfing Sixx. Golden is running at 776cfs but the wave will be better and safer at Benni’s. When surfing Benny’s,
