After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Quick Release Leashes Are

Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

Turn off will happen at noon. Sixx, Bennis, Chiclets, Beaver, 16th will see surf for a couple of hours more. No reason provided why the zero flow, so we will make up one…. Sixx and Benni’s are in need of a good scrubbing behind the ears, so we had the river turned off. Please bring

Leftovers prevail for Saturday morning at Sixx and Benni’s with the both waves shaped (thanks Adam and Josh). Going to feel a bit soft but fun. Don’t take it from me, local ripper Marko says, “Was just there, probably shouldn’t have since I’m sick,…. Super fun. A bit soft, still good.” So if ya jonesing

Sixx will be excellent for a few hours and then will need a tune for still some fun smaller surf. LBK

Well, half the story. It was announced 300cfs yesterday by the DWR Chatfield Reservoir Operations Team though we only got like 94cfs plus some rain bump. So why only a partial release? Was it the broken Chatfield gauge that causes them to hold back? Did somebody not get the release memo? Enquiring minds just want

Get it people! Sixx was last shaped for this, so it should be in sometime noonish or so! LBK

Monsoons hit last night in Denver though causing runoff a bit more downriver; and with Chatty at “1” cfs, RRP just missed the heavy flows. Sixx is not really surfable. Chiclets is surfable with bigger boards. Update Edit: Chatty just announced going to 300cfs Tuesday 8/1/23 making for Sixx and Benni’s surfable maybe noonish or

Unbelievable! No reason given. LBK

Monsoons might bring metro-Denver some surf. This week is forecasted with days of some sun, then clouds; and severe afternoon thunderstorms that possibly can bring flooding downpours. Keep an eye on the weather alerts and the gauges along with the Sixx pole cam. Chatfield Reservoir is rather full and water calls are still possible. Will
