After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Quick Release Leashes Are

Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

Not going to say done yet for the river surf season because there is local surf and travel surf to be had. Look for a 7:30am session at 16th St Wave Saturday with Mr Mike and Longboard Bill. Dave’s is always surfable, and the Denver crew are surfing Scout’s last big flow this weekend. Scout

Hmmm… Will do a weekend surf forecast later today. LBK

Dog days of summer are upon us. Still hope for one last Chatty good flow before the season ends but not holding my breath. Will be up at Scout this evening for a couple of days. Come surf with me. LBK

Stepping up might be a good sign. Could help with Beavers and 16th waves. Not sure where Chatty goes from here but last season do recall a good late season release in mid August. LBK

Buena Vista plans to create a green faced wave, similar to the Scout Wave in Salida, by revamping the current version of Pocket Wave. The project is called “Pocket Wave 2.0”. A public update meeting will be held Thursday 8/17/2023 7pm in the Buena Vista Community Center on Pocket Wave 2.0… No word yet if

Monsoons missed us for the most part yesterday. There are some possibilities of moisture from the south for some rain into the system but really not all that promising. Scout still has flow if you can play hooky to drive on out… Beavers might be surfable if you are really willing to bounce off the

Updated review (previously drafted when Evo was selling them online) but are now sold out for good nationwide from any retailer including Lib! Evo, you know the shop that forgets to sell surfboards and wetsuits at their Denver location for some dumb reason, currently has the Lib-Tech Funnelator online only at a reduced price, that

Not much, but keeping the hope alive for possible surf this week…. Water calls are being made and possible heavy rain south of us this afternoon if they don’t go too far east… LBK

Keeping an eye on monsoon moisture returning to the area soon. Not going to be as strong as last week, but hopefully the afternoon rains will hit in the right places and bring us some surf over the coming week. Normally we call it done/over for Denver’s river surfing season at RRP by mid-August, but

Calm before the potential storms next week.. LBK
