After much research, failed attempts for change of status quo, and self-reflection; I have decided to refrain from knowingly promoting river surfing due to river surfing’s unwittingly and knowingly negligent use of unsafe gear (in particular the use of quick release leashes and improperly designed personal floatation devices for river surfing). Chatfield decreased to 80cfs at 11:30am Saturday, August 19, 2023. Sixx was surfed Friday at low flow but the Chatty drop to 80cfs will essentially take the surf out of Sixx, Chiclets, and Beavers and 16th to a point. Though the desperate surfers might hit Beavers anyway (it was surfed early Saturday) or Dave’s Wave

Remains the same… Go surf Chiclets or Sixx if you got a high vol. board or the Beav, 16th, or Dave’s. LBK

I’m out of town in the tropics chasing Hurricane Lee but noticed some gutter bump at Sixx on the gauge and cam that was surfed this AM. Also Longboard Bill was surfing 110cfs Benni’s on his mat yesterday. Surf is where you find it! LBK

Crickets- No word on the release…. Water managers must have taken the weekend off from announcements or changes in flow. LBK

Looks like Chatfield water managers left it at 108cfs today. There was no official announcement on release. Congrats to WSL champions today: Caroline Marks (Florida surfer taking it) Filipe Toledo (Back to back champ) LBK

Glad some of you got the low flow surf at Sixx yesterday and early part of today as it will be out of range by early afternoon. Chiclets and Dave’s Wave will be afterwork surf. LBK
-
Low flow surf at Sixx should be in. Chiclets will be good. Beavers, 16th, and Dave’s will be surfable. LBK

Sixx is just a bit out of range (needs to be shaped steeper to surf it but probably will not warrant anyone headed down there but ya never know)… What was it I said about needing more daytime shapers, ha, never mind… Chiclets could be real fun for high volume boards. Beavers, 16th, and Dave’s

On 9/4/2023, the British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB), as the UK National Governing Body for Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), strongly recommend that SUP paddlers DO NOT use any leash system while paddling on white water. Furthermore, BCAB no longer allows for any SUP leash system within a white water environment they are involved in such as competitions,

😢, what is there will be gone by this afternoon…. Dave’s Wave always seems to have surf. LBK

Low flow Sixx will be in play for those wanting to get some groveling surf on this “unofficial end of summer/river surfing day”. Labor Day honors to the workers in our great nation. LBK
