The main reservoir release gate will be increased from 60 to 80 cfs and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
RRP: 100cfs+/- (predicted) Come on Smalls you are killing us!!…. Stormed last night but not enough rain to cause any surf this AM. Chiclets might have a fun wave today. Keep an eye on Sixx for possible gutter bump surf starting later today with the 80cfs out of the dam and native flow in the river as we get earlier rain storms chances from mid/late afternoon thru evening the next five days.

Pueblo: 730cfs+/- Fun surf during the day at the new wave. Pueblo will likely see afternoon/evening rain storms and gutter bump.
Heads up….. Is this potentially also the last weekend of higher flows at P-town’s new wave for the season based on prior two year activity?!?
Looking at last year’s flows out of the Pueblo Reservoir, it surely does look like Arkansas River water dials back by mid August out of the Pueblo Reservoir/Dam. Also read below that the P-town new wave will apparently not be surfable next week at the request of the rather cool construction workers.
*** P-town new wave will be closed next week while they will be doing repair work at the actual new wave location. PLEASE DO NOT SURF NEXT WEEK DURING THE CONSTRUCTION WORK ON THE SIDE(s) OF THE WAVE EMBANKMENT/FISH LADDER/SIDEWALK OF THE P-TOWN NEW WAVE ***
Scout: 725cfs+/- Scout is looking amazing on the live cam. Get it while it lasts because this is probably the last weekend of surf as the VFMP flow ends August 15th.

River Surfing Tips: Might start thinking about alternative surf spots be it ankle slapper Dave’s Wave or Boise, ID or Lake Zink (Tulsa, OK), or even get back to that regular gym routine to ramp your body up for your snow sports.
Nothing lasts forever but we can have fun while trying to make it last longer.
