Friday will start out similar to yesterday with excellent surf in the morning. Yesterday, Sixx was shaped by Ocky in his street clothes during his lunch break to keep us surfing the rest of the day on Thursday as the flow increased (mega props goes out to Ocky for the the help). Sixx was re-shaped in the evening, so Sixx is primed for Friday AM to early PM surf. Benni’s was also shaped by Ocky yesterday.
Possible afternoon rain storms are in the forecast for today. Probably means some sort of continued good to excellent surfable flow will be coming out of Chatfield…. As always, we will update as soon as Brent, the water manager, sends out his official statement for Chatty daily release he sends out about mid-morning.

RIVER SURF TIP: Your number one safety equipment in river surfing is not a pfd, it is a helmet. In river surfing, your board goes with you down river and hunts your head and face.
Amazing to watch all the near head hits the last few days of people not wearing a helmet. Especially people learning to river surf who don’t know how to surface with hands covering their head/face and don’t know how to stay submerged past the secondary wave….

SURF TRIVIA: Who is Mr. Zog?
PRIOR SURF TRIVIA ANSWER: “Jaws” the movie. The scene is of the mayor pointing at the shark graffitied town billboard, was the mayor’s attempt to force the police chief and expert scientist to downplay a threat in the water (a hungry large white shark). The movie caused an unfounded fear and and misunderstanding of sharks that prevails to this day.
