Thur 9/5/24 AM (RRP gutter bump; P-town low flow surf; Scout??)

Heavy rains yesterday afternoon, last night, and into the morning, impacts local surf.

RRP: 212cfs+/- Get some possible surf at Wav Sixx if you have the tolerance. Last readings on the Union gauge were dropping. Not sure how quickly this will drain off today. Keep an eye on the Union gauge (mind the time stamp) and Sixx pole cam that updates every 15 minutes. Water temp will be cold at about 65°.

Pueblo: 368cfs+/- Despite any rains down south, not seeing any gutter bump at P-town. Keep an eye on the gauge nearest the Pueblo Dam for any typical morning changes to the flow by USBR. P-town new wave is designed to be surfed down to 350cfs.

Scout: 444cfs+/- Will be an interesting day. Scout Wave might see a drop in flow due to a 33cfs decrease today out of Twin Lakes by USBR. Though heavy rains could also bring a brown water bump up to the flow at Scout as well. Keep an eye on the live Scout Wave cam and closest gauge to see what happens today surfwise.

River Surfing Tips: Rain storm increase in surf is cold so you need a thicker wetsuit. Gutter bump surf also brings in natural additives to the water primarily in silt (dirt) that will give the water a brown color. Gutter bump can also bring in hazards from the foot hills and local streets such as pollution and bacteria. Surf gutter bump at your own risk, and make sure you wash your hands and face before eating after any river surfing session (especially gutter bump) to avoid getting sick. If you do get sick after river surfing, seek medical advice for any potential meds to clear it up.

Get some coffee, and some surf?
