The main reservoir release gate will remain at 60 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
RRP: 68cfs+/- Another hot day with some possible afternoon rain. Not seeing anything really surfable locally.
Pueblo: 466cfs+/- Small and shallow but likely fun. From a field report today, they are staging boulders down near the P-town new wave on the sidewalk side. Would not try surfing before 5pm this week!!!
Scout: 452cfs+/- Frustrating collapsing Scout wave is still happening but from the cam it seems surfers are figuring out how to clean it up such as prone jumping on the flushed out wave to bellyboard it back and forth to green face the wave. When it does clean up it looks like steep and fun surfing is going on!!!!

River Surfing Tips: Got to walk back my tip from yesterday.. Sit down starts are a cool way to get on a river wave like Scout, P-town’s new wave, Sixx, standing wave pools, etc. Even the best surfers will utilize the sit down start including the Rapid Surf League competitive surfers- https://rapidsurfleague.com
Surf Side Gigs:

What’s a zine? A zine is a self-published simplistic magazine typically black/white xeroxed, of questionable quality, produced in varying sizes, and ranges from four pages to many more pages. Zine’s are a throwback to the pre-internet 1980’s days of how skateboard and punk rock scenes remained in touch when regular magazines either did not cover punk rock or, like skateboarding, the regular magazines all went out business. Today’s zines are eclectic works of art, poetry, and often center on social issues.
I started up the Surf Collusion zine many years ago as a way to celebrate and promote river surfing in the Denver area. Surf Collusion has morphed into different paper formats and has covered various surf inspired board sports (skateboarding, snowskating, powsurfing, bellyboarding, etc)
If you are a zine collector, you can likely still find a couple print issues of Surf Collusion at Kilgore’s used bookstore in Denver. If you are purely an online person, you can find rants from Surf Collusion on Instagram (@surfcollusion) or at least one issue at https://issuu.com/surfcollusion/docs/the_river_surfing_report_metro_denver_vol1-1_march
Would love to see others create river surfing zines!
