Chatty 60cfs (Scout crumbling; Commode Start; Local Surf Apparel)

8/20/24, Assume the flow will remain at 60cfs. The Chatfield water managers are very late in their water announcement (yesterday issued it at 5pm).

RRP: 73cfs+/- No real surf at RRP. Dry day w/ no rain. A couple more farmer calls for water but not seeing much release of water from the dam.

Pueblo: 495cfs+/- (predicted) Smaller shallow surf slightly improves at P-town new wave with another 75cfs just released of the dam. Not sure if worth playing hooky or making a long drive just yet.?.

Scout: 437cfs+/- Flow dropped down over night. Seems like the wave has a tendency to collapse on itself. Cleans up at times and those surfing are playing around with turns that oddly enough can clean the wave and also whitewater the wave.

Wondering if 400ishcfs is the new low flow point for Scout and then it crumbles out below that? Hope not and it is just a hiccup on the wave! BTW, see the river surfing tip below on “flushing”, I mean “foaming”.

Interesting to watch on the Scout live cam- https://coloradowebcam.net/camera/salida-co-lower-wave-arkansas-river-zoom-tenderfoot-mt

River Surfing Tips: That shit needs to be quick when it is time to go on the wave!….From watching the Scout cam today, when surfers “toilet start” (a rather slow sit-down push on), it can unfortunately foam up the entire wave. Sit and go quick or suitcase drop (aka bomb drop) to avoid collapsing the wave.

Surf Side Gigs: The Denver Surf Report does not sell or trade for advertisement; though every now and then, some surfers are coming up with cool stuff to sell that is surf related and worth mentioning…
