Chatty 60cfs (RRP flat)

The main reservoir release gate will be reduced from 100 cfs to 60 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Saturday, August 17, 2024.

RRP: 65cfs+/- (predicted) Sixx will be flat and likely Chiclets will not be surfable.

Not calling the season for RRP, chance of monsoons will return and farmers will likely need water. Crossing the fingers.

Pueblo: 661cfs+/- There was a slight drop in flow out of the Pueblo Reservoir/Dam this morning. P-town new wave should still be fun today.

Good idea to check the gauge near Pueblo Dam before road tripping for the P-town new wave. Typically they like to make the flow adjustments early morning (as opposed to Chatfiled that seems to change flows around noon). So keep an eye on this gauge and typically by around 9am-10am, the level is set for the day- https://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/StationsLite/ARKPUECO?params=DISCHRG

Yes it is the weekend but please set a good example by minding the construction fence to go around it if possible, and not over it. Leave your stuff on the edge of the river bank well away from obvious stuff such as construction equipment, the construction road, construction debris, etc

Scout: 519cfs+/- Post-VFMP flow. Still looking surfable on the live pole cam. Might want to bring a bigger board as a back-up or if you don’t have a bigger board, get on the wave quickly (as not to foam it out), and get after it surfing side to side with strong turns so you will say on the wave.

Here is the Scout live cam 24/7- https://coloradowebcam.net/camera/salida-co-lower-wave-arkansas-river-zoom-tenderfoot-mt

River Surfing Tip: River surfing is a quiver game if you want to extend your surf season. Suggest you have a short board for high flow season, a mid-sized bigger volume board, and a longboard. Or you can “quiver kill it” with a bodyboard or a surfmat.

River surfing is about having fun. Don’t compare waves for “the best wave”, instead go surf any wave as best you can while having fun!
