The main reservoir release gate will be reduced from 140 cfs to 100 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Friday, August 16, 2024.
RRP: cfs+/- Sixx will drop out of surfable range by mid afternoon or sooner. Chiclets will have a mellow wave. Dry today but maybe monsoons show up next week. Pray for rain and surf.
Pueblo: 1,120cfs+/- P-town new wave was surfed yesterday after 5pm. From pics and vids, it is not clear if they have competed or done any updated construction on the sides of the river by the new wave. So surf after 5pm is still the safest bet and weekends.
Scout: 557cfs+/- Flow is still surfable. Hope it holds.
River Surfing Tips: Bring extra wax to the wave and leave it for everyone to share. Might prevent footage (slippage of the front foot) and save someone from spitting chiclets (teeth). Oh and might want to do like Loren Kaehn, Secretary of Surf for the Idaho River Surfing Assoc., who only surfs softtops to avoid head/face hit injuries.
“Confirm that the last surfer has safely made it back to shore.” (Welcome to the Scout Wave sign)
