The main reservoir release gate will remain at 140 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Thursday, August 15, 2024.
RRP: 146cfs+/- Dry couple of days ahead. Can only hope they keep sending water out of the dam. Sixx is surfable on anything over about 125cfs, though is soft at lower flows. Check out the Sixx Pole Cam to reference yourself on what the wave looks like at various flows.

Pueblo: 1,110+/- P-town new wave was surfed yesterday presumably after 5pm. Pics posted on FB showed a fun session. Should be good again today, when It’s Five O’clock Somewhere.
Scout: 636cfs+/- Looking like the flow at Scout Wave will be turned down sometime today. Per USBR, “Project releases to support the VFMP are ending today.” Not sure what that means of how much native flow will provide in the days/weeks/months to come at Scout.
River Surfing Tip: When doing the “sit down push in”, do it with a hard push off the wall with both hands and aim toward the center of the wave. You have to get your center of gravity over the top of your board and moving downward on the wave but also moving toward the center of the wave to carry momentum to surf the river wave. All of this while immediately planing up the board with even pressure on both feet. Remember, no “buttitiss” (ass sticking way out) and instead use an athletic stance knees bent in a quarter of a full squat with chest up like you are going to receive a pass of a basketball. If you flush out the back of the wave, you need to push harder off the wall with both hands. If you nose dive the board, you need to push more toward the center of the wave.
Transparency in river surfing is important and like anything else we are involved with, so we know what is up…. talking flows, upkeep, building of wave process, etc.
