Chatty 140cfs (Sixx Getting Some Surf; 2 minutes?; Must Exit Wave for Upstream Users)

The main reservoir release gate will increase from 120 to 140 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Please read the “River Surfing Tip“ at end of the surf report

RRP: 150cfs+/- (predicted) Sixx was surfed late yesterday and will be again today with an additional 20cfs from the dam. Chances of heavy cold rain from 3pm to 7pm might give us bit of gutter bump. Chiclets has a wave.

Pueblo: 1,200cfs+/- Nice flow but not worth the long drive as there will likely be active construction at the new wave…. Until we can verify the work is done- PLEASE DO NOT SURF P-TOWN’s NEW WAVE THIS WEEK, THE CONSTRUCTION CREW NEEDS ROOM TO FINISH UP THE SIDE(s) AT THE WAVE… Thanks

Scout: 620cfs+/- Wave is so good. Though gets crowded and the rides really need to be shortened by each surfer (see tip below), but many cool surf sessions are going on as the days tick off to VFMP water ending likely Thursday.

River Surfing Tip: “Watch your time on the wave, keep it to a one minute ride. When it is crowded, shorten rides to 45 seconds.” Copied verbatim from Scout Wave signage and applies to all river waves (and standing wave pools).

Also upriver users (swimmers, tubers, boaters) have the sole right of passage. Surfers MUST exit the wave to allow for safe passage of ALL upriver traffic. It is uncool and is causing general hatred for the river waves when surfers are not yielding right of way to those passing through the river waves.

Friends don’t let friends hog the wave…. We all love a good ride but please share the surf by keeping your time in check while on the wave!…. And be cool, help remind your friends to get off the wave when any up river traffic (boaters, swimmers, tubers) needs passage.
