Chatty 20cfs (Check Yo’ Self to Check Others Before Going)

The main reservoir release gate will be increased from 10 to 20 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 10 cfs today, Saturday, July 13, 2024.

RRP: 20cfs?!?…. Surf is flat… Get a snorkel and goggles to search for river booty behind the waves. So far couple of nice sunglasses were scored that way. Also note any hazards such as fishing hooks, etc.

Pueblo: Flow is just below 700cfs and will likely be fun to surf at the new wave. Might even want to take a look at the Levee waves 3 and 4 but likely need a bit more board size to get them.

Scout: Just below the 700cfs VFMP target level but is surfing well.

Just got a photo from Scout this AM of a surfer/board face hit just below the helmet line that looks like stitches are needed.

River Surfing Tip: Even if you sport a helmet, cover your face with your arms if possible when falling and until you have cleared the secondary wave. And as you come up for air, try to surface with a hand up to deflect your board.

Also, PLEASE WATCH THE EXITING SURFER BEFORE YOU JUMP ON AS NEXT UP, TO MAKE SURE THEY MADE IT PAST THE SECONDARY WAVE…. DON’T BE GREADY BY QUICKLY JUMPING ON WITHOUT CHECKING THE PRIOR SURFER.

Pause and be each-other’s safety!!!!
