Chatty Ups to 800cfs

The main reservoir release gate will be increased from 750 to 800 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Friday, June 21, 2024.

We are in the throws of high flow water, extreme caution and patience might be the best plan for the next few days or more. Safety is paramount as the rivers are not the same right now and need to be respected based on your skill sets and willingness to not jump in if you are not feeling comfortable at any river wave.

RRP: Sixx is basically blown out. Big Benni’s is in excellent range but the swim is to be fully aware of. Chiclets might be surfable with large boards and bodyboards but even the swim behind that wave is not easy. Use caution at RRP since the flow is much higher than typically encountered. Might want to consider additional floatation of an impact vest or CGA pfd.

Golden: Cold Bingo is likely surfable, but approach with caution and knowledge of how to surf the wave and the dangers of that shallow wave and down stream hazards.

Scout: Still an expert only wave right now. Check the cam and see for yourself as the secondary wave and wave train behind that is a cavetating wild swim off the wave. The exits out of the river are limited and the sidewalk back up to the wave is covered with flowing water on river right. Seems that the goofy foot side is now working but the riverbank to the eddy requires jumping in and through the new boat chute. Again, this is not a novice or beginner river surfer wave.

Pueblo: Not getting much feedback on how things are or not surfable down that way. Use caution is you decide to travel down there and be willing to not surf, as in, if in doubt don’t go out.
