Chatty yo-yo’s back to 625cfs (Be Cool People, Be Cool)

The main reservoir release gate will be increased from 575 to 625 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

RRP: Wish I could tell you why, maybe the heat is bringing more snow melt in, don’t know, but we are back up 50cfs out the dam after 50cfs drop yesterday. Probably got a few hours of surf at Sixx on your short board before it fluffs out. Might be able to surf it on a longer board after the flow fills in. Sixx is at that hard to shape cfs in the river.

Big Benni’s is the spot to surf locally. A good session was going on yesterday there. So give Benni’s a try as it is a fun challenging wave unlike any other wave in the state or even country.

Chiclets should be a fun crumbling wave for boards of more size and bodyboards.

Golden: Taquito longboard is the board of choice at Bingo in the chilly Clear Creek. Going to need a 4/3 or thicker if you don’t want to be freezing.

Scout Wave: Almost puked watching the shaky cam for Scout but that wave is BIG today as in “Big Tuesday” and only for very experienced surfers. The wave has greened up but not wall to wall. Will need bring a good jump to leap in over the foamed out edges or a solid pop-up. Then you will need strong turns to stay on and sweep away the crumbling edges of the wave for a bigger wave face. The secondary wave and wave train is dolling out “Maytag” washing machine labeled swims for people surfing Scout. Not so much the hold down but the violent secondary wave is churning boards dangerously near the upper body; so hands up over the face and try to stay under the water till clearing the secondary wave… and the wave train is long, strong, and wide. Again, if in doubt…. don’t go out.

Big Tuesday” Scout Wave 6/18/2024

Pueblo: We don’t have the intel on the P-town new wave but flow is dropping back like what has happened up at Scout; so might be worth a look and to double check the eddy service and down river swims. The levee whitewater park waves 3 and 4 should be real good…. Hey if you go down to Pueblo to surf, tell everyone in town, I mean everyone, we appreciate their river waves (old and new) and we are cool. Tell ’em LBK says so… Cool?!? Yeah, we is cool!!!

PS, river surfers support river surfers be it at RRP, Scout, Pueblo, Glennwood, etc. So bring respectful vibe and just as important expect respectful vibe…. I will not go any further into this…

Go find some surf but be safe and have fun!
