Chatty Remains 625cfs (Happy Father’s Day)

No change at Chatfield today. The main reservoir release gate will remain at 625 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Big Benni’s is shaped perfect and the swim out the back is not all that difficult even at about 700cfs when factoring in the native flow added to the Chatfield 625cfs release. Sixx is fluffy surfable with most boards able to clean the face to make mellow turns but a bigger board will let you climb the foam pile edges for some floater-like turns. Chiclets has a small green face on surfer’s left that you can play on and makes some crumbly turns on the center of the wave.

Thanks to all who participated in “ISD” yesterday at RRP. Benni’s and Chiclets surf sessions were busy and going off, while the gathering of people on the sides of the wave was so cool. Sixx even got some surfing done by a few hardy folks walking up there. Though the star wave of the day was Big Benni’s as it will be again today for RRP.

There is still a lot of water flowing into Chatfield Reservoir. Expect the flow out of Chatty for the next days to be on the high side; but keep an eye on the report (or better yet subscribe for e-mail alerts when the surf forecast is published)…. eventually we will drop back to levels that will allow for that need “cowbell” added to Sixx to surf

Again, Happy Father’s Day.
