INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY Sat June 15th, 2024 (Various Surfer Gatherings, Surf Sessions, & Trash Clean Ups at Your River Wave)

CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY SATURDAY JUNE 15TH, 2024 AT YOUR RIVER WAVE OF CHOICE BY SURFING IT, OR HANGING OUT AT IT, AND PICKING UP SOME TRASH... This is a call for you to please organize informally and make an announcement of your International Surfing Day event at your river wave prior to Sat 6/15/24 via the “the coconut telegraph“, social internets, flyers/signs/sidewalk-chalk at your wave, and the comment section below.

International Surfing Day happens annually on the 3rd Saturday of June and was started in 2005 as an international celebration of the love of surfing for all people to enjoy. The day was established by Surfrider Foundation and partners to raise awareness and support for our world’s beaches and coastal environments.

As we all know, river surfing is part of our enjoyment of the hydrological cycle of water traveling from the mountains to the sea, that we as landlocked surfers, surf the snowmelt as it passes by us on our river waves to eventually make it to the beaches and coastal environment. Here is a classic informational vid on the hydrological cycle by Surfrider Foundation, “Sea to Summit“: https://youtu.be/lPOVXL3jOhQ?si=cba45FPIJIFYfQ7W

Go surf wherever you can on International Surfing Day and pic up some trash… If you can’t make it out to your wave, wear your favorite surf/beach shirt or spend a moment thinking about surfing in support International Surfing Day.
