Update Surf Report (Miracle Wave is Surfable) 5/16/24

Miracle Wave last year at 1,000cfs

Since the Chatfield release is over a thousand (currently at 1,400cf today Thur 5/16/24), a famous metro-Denver river wave is surfable today called Miracle Wave located right at the Chatfield Dam release.

Miracle Wave is a tricky wave to surf as it is mellow but fun since it is glassy long/wide. You will be guaranteed to smack yourself on sharp rip-rap rocks right behind the wave. Fall flat as you can or you will get badly bruised or cut or worse yet victim of a foot hold that could drown you.

Need to surf it with a longboard or board with a lot of volume like an inflatable.

Directions: Have to pay to get into the Chatfield Reservoir park. After entry, turn left at the stop sign and follow the sign to the dog park. You will go past the reservoir and up over the dam. Look to your left and you will see the wave down on the other side of the dam. Once you go down the hill, turn left into the dog park. Park at the dog park and follow the LONG path along the OUTSIDE of the dog park to get to the wave that is about 300 yards from the dam outlet.
