CHATTY to 60cfs (Intense Geomagnetic Storm Fri-Sun; Gerry Lopez Surf Movie Tonight at Badfish Surfshop 5pm)

“The Silver Surfer” (art by Jack Kirby) first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1966 surfing the waves in space to our planet Earth.

The main reservoir release gate will increase from 50 cfs to 60 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Friday, May 10, 2024.

Gee thanks for extra 10cfs… Chatfield release is likely to hold at 60cfs all weekend long.

RRP WAVES: Sixx and Benny’s are not surfable for mere mortals. Chiclets might be surfable for big volume boards. Rain looks like it just misses us this weekend but you never know. Keep an eye on the RRP gauge if it starts to rain nice and hard, as well as the Sixx Pole Cam.

BEAVER WAVE: Beavers is still surfable at 200cfs+/- and might stay surfable all weekend. Need a board with volume though, like a longboard.

SCOUT WAVE (SALIDA): Scout just bumped up again to almost 700cfs and it was snowing up there this morning. Despite the snow on the ground, people are surfing it. If you plan to head up to Salida this weekend: be prepared for cold rainy weather; have proper thick hooded wetsuit along w/ thick gloves and booties; and bring a backup board that is bigger than your normal short board since it will likely be flushy compared to last year at this flow. Still looking like a fun wave to surf.

Also remember that to celebrate the Badfish Surf Shop one year anniversary, they are showing probably the best surf movie to come out in last couple of years, “The Yin & Yang of Jerry Lopez” tonight Friday May 10th from 5pm to 7pm.

MOTHER EARTH: Might not get some local rivers waves from this; but, the Denver Post is reporting severe solar storms and sun flares buffeting Earth this weekend could bring the northern lights to Colorado, space weather forecasters said Friday.

At least five coronal mass ejections (CMEs) — pulses of plasma and magnetic fields from the sun — are headed to Earth this weekend, space weather officials said. The waves of solar energy could arrive as early as mid-day Friday or as late as Sunday.

If your dog acts kind of strange and your coffee maker goes on the blink, you will know why…. Hahaha
