Chatty to 95cfs (RRP Possibly Surfable but Windy)

The main reservoir release gate will increase from 65 to 95 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Monday, April 15, 2024.

“Ya killing me Smalls!” Water managers have upped the flow today. Who knows really why they are dropping water at just below what we really need to surf, except maybe the snowpack is still over 100% and our mountains are getting a storm tonight. Still think they are worried about any potential strong rains in May, though rest of April looks to be relatively dry.

So if you are jonesing for some surf at RRP keep a close eye on the Sixx Pole Cam. If the water fills in up to the indicators of the rock with a line on it and/or into the fish ladder, Sixx could be surfable later this afternoon or early evening. But the winds might be picking up and the temps dropping.

I’ll be watching Sixx. Here is the cam: https://www.senserasystems.com/public/embed/3M7824646H83

Beavers will be fun today!

Ethan’s POV longboarding Beaver’s yesterday afternoon.

Scout seems to be seeing some actual turns being made on it instead of straight lining it. Historically the flow starts coming up about now at Scout. The sides to Scout are lookin real good (no longer will people need to do the dreaded “Salida Tail Drop” or we hope it is no longer needed. The sit down method looks so much easier and smoother at Scout and the suitcase drop (aka bomb drop) is still the best.

Will also be posting up in a bit how to make a self-releasing leash modification to any QR leash.
