The main reservoir release gate will reduce to 90 cfs, and the fish hatchery will remain at 5 cfs today, Thursday, March 28, 2024.
River Run Park (RRP): Surf will up for a lunch session if you hurry. Sixx was shaped by Adam yesterday and Lane surfed it this morning saying it was good on his shortboard. For a last minute lunch surf, you might want to bring a board with a bit more volume to Sixx or get ready for some “Huntington Beach hop” at times to stay in the wave…. Inside tip for Sixx; when the triangles on the sides are no longer covered, time to pack it up and go home.. Chiclets will be surfable with a big volume board if you are in need of surf later today.
We might be in for a period of no surf at RRP since there are no storms in the near future hitting the Front Range. But I am reading on OpenSnow about a round of storms in the next week or so in the mountains. Too early to tell if we have any eastern slopes moisture that would cause the water managers to up the Chatty flow down the road (next couple of weeks)…
Here is the cam for Sixx that takes pics every 15 minutes up to 7pm… https://www.senserasystems.com/public/embed/3M7824646H83
Here is the gauge for RRP but it hangs up for hours at time for some reason so don’t bet the farm on it… https://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/Stations/PLAUNICO?params=DISCHRG
Note, all the waves at RRP were built for no need of leashes with friendly eddy service and even the signage say no leashes. So learn to surf without a leash at RRP.
Beaver Wave: Will be a bit shallow but likely surfable even after Chatty backs down to 90cfs. Again, Beavers is a bit tricky to surf so go with someone who has surfed it before.

Note, Beavers Wave also does not need a leash.
The real season is not too far off in May. Pray for surf and get some lunch time turns if you can sneak out to Sixx with me today before the surf is done for at Sixx.
