Surf Forecast for Sat/Sun 8/5-6/2023

Leftovers prevail for Saturday morning at Sixx and Benni’s with the both waves shaped (thanks Adam and Josh). Going to feel a bit soft but fun. Don’t take it from me, local ripper Marko says,

“Was just there, probably shouldn’t have since I’m sick,…. Super fun. A bit soft, still good.”

So if ya jonesing for surf, suggest Saturday morning. Sunday may see another step down in Chatty release.

Will keep you updated on Chatfield release changes this weekend.

Going to dry up this weekend with a chance of monsoons again next week.

Alternate spots to surf are starting to drop off flow-wise…. Fully recommend Scout in Salida as flow might dwindle there in the next couple of weeks (August 15th) or we could get lucky till Labor Day. Don’t chance it, surf Scout now!!!

PLACES TO SURF: Beavers. 16th Street. Dave’s Wave. Scout Wave. Montrose. Maybe Bingo Wave.

RIVER SURFING TIP: Wax them soft tops. Helps with preventing “footage” (aka feet slipping off the board) and paddling. Seriously wax them sticks up, slippage surfing and paddling back to the wave is no fun!

SURF TRIVIA: How do you properly move up and down a longboard or even go switch stance on a surfboard (no matter the size or type of board)?

PRIOR SURF TRIVIA ANSWER: Henry Rollins, of Black Flag was the famous punk rocker who briefly worked at the Bethesda Surf Shop (aka “B-town” ) just outside of Washington DC back in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s. B-town and parent shop Sunshine House (Ocean City, Maryland) were the quintessential surf shops back in the day on the mid-Atlantic coast. Only place you could find (outside of Florida) a good selection of surfboards, skateboards, and even the first snowboards on the east coast.
