Chatfield Release will be decreased from 300 to 100 cfs today Monday, July 10, 2023 at around 11:15 am.

First pause of the Denver 20213 river surfing season will happen today by about 2pm when the flow subsides at RRP.

Possibly Sixx will surfable after the drop with some ambient flow in the river but that puts things on the edge of surfable for Sixx at 130cfs-ish. Really doubt the waveshaper volunteers will venture down there to make any adjustments today.

Benni’s will not be surfable.

Only slight spot of hope at RRP is Chiclets that could be fun with a higher volume board or a longboard or the inflatable surfboard.

If you are looking for surf later today, Beaver Wave will be at optimal level of Chatty 100cfs + Bear Creek 240cfs making for about 340cfs or a bit more at Beavers. Enter Beavers from the break in the railing just down river from the wave and then walk back up to the wave.

Beavers is surfable with a larger volume surfboards (5’7″ short board or bigger to longboard or inflatable) at around 200cfs and seems to blow out above 500cfs+/- Keep an eye on this gauge for Beavers: https://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/Stations/PLAENGCO?params=DISCHRG…. Beavers is a bit rocky, so you really want to go with somebody who has surfed there previously. Also we observed a shopping cart stuck on the rocks above the wave on surfer’s right about a month ago; so leashes might be questionable until the wave is checked closely. Dave’s Wave in Thornton will likely be blown out but maybe someone should go take a look at Dave’s. Really, Dave’s Wave (named after Dave Schambach) is only an out of season knee high longboard spot but can be fun to surf… Here is the 411: http://endlesswaves.net/waves/daves-wave/

Take the time off to heal surf wounds today. Will update things tomorrow’s surf forecast with some thoughts on when surf might return to Sixx.
