Surf Forecast for Sunday 7/9/23

Surf session was going off yesterday at Sixx. Many were getting incredible rides!

Get your surf on early today before any possible flow changes. Waves are looking real good Sunday morning. Sixx is in the excellent range. Benni’s got shaped yesterday and was looking good! Chiclets continues with a green left side to surf.

No rain in the forecast today but never say never when it comes to summer afternoon heavy rain clouds/storms in Colorado.

Too early in the day to make prediction on the flow but Chatfield is full and doubt we will lose much flow today if any…. Cross our fingers we stay in the very good flow range.

Will update the official Chatty release likely mid-morning.

Golden will be surfable. Pueblo has dropped below optimal flow for a road trip. Flow is still too high for Scout in Salida but is worth keeping an eye on for that wave to come back in soon (we hope).

RIVER SURFING TIP: We all at times go head over heels jumping onto the waves at Sixx, Benni’s, Scout, Bend, Boise, etc. The culprit is not landing in the “athletic stance” of chest up and a slight or quarter squat. In essence when jumping on incorrectly, our center of balance that is in the middle of our body just below our belly button moves upward and over the toe edge of our surfboards sending us head forward into the drink. Remember to land on the board solidly with chest up, a slight bend in the knees, and arms slightly out front and to the side bent like about to catch a basketball pass…. Easier said than done at times… Note, your stance becomes more dynamic as you surf the wave, but you got to stick the landing first with that athletic stance.
