Look for good morning surf at Sixx and Benni’s Thursday morning. Dawn patrol will likely be your best bet for Sixx. Check the RRP (Union) gauge and if it is at 400cfs-ish just get in the car and go surf daybreak. If you happen to sleep in a bit, look at the Sixx pole cam for first light at 5:15am to confirm the wave is on.
Surf should be in excellent range to at least about noon without a need for a Sixx wave shape. If the flow holds from Chatty, surf will be on all day and no adjustments needed. Will update the flow release info as soon as Brent the water manager sends out the official word on the release likely around 9am or as late as 11am.

Golden will be surfable. Pueblo is all over the gauge so who knows if the flow will hold or not (somebody has got to get me the inside track on releases for P-town to update everyone timely). Scout is a crumbly dangerous hole, don’t even bother going that way since we are weeks off before the flow backs off for Scout to be surfable again.
RIVER SURF TIP: To help with your “suitcase drops” (people incorrectly call it “bomb-drop” but that is a post for another day), rub some surf wax on the bottom of the board where you hold the board when doing a suitcase drop. Idea comes from bodyboarders who wax the bottom of their boards at the spot they hold on to their board on both sides for a strong hold…. Don’t worry, a small amount of wax on the bottom of the board where you fingers hold is not going to slow your board down and instead will help you get a solid grip on the rail of your board for dropping in “suitcase” style.
