Small waves remains this AM as leftover over flow in the S Platte slowly drains. Sixx is surfable down to 125cfs but once you see dry parts on the triangles on each side of the wave, time to go…. Chiclets will be a small fun wave to surf probably most of the day.
Benni’s (wave closest to Oxford bridge) is out of play since the flow has dropped below the needed 220cfs to surf it (local indicator of surfable for that wave is; the water needs to be above the bottom of the two signs attached to the wave that say to “wear a helmet and pfd”).
Chatfield likely will stay at zero over the weekend; however, if any planned changes are made, will do an update asap.
(Note the Sixx pole cam had a hiccup late yesterday and stopped working and re-started late last night. Hopefully it will be back on schedule of 5am to 8pm every 15 minute photos.)
Beaver Wave is too high right now but becomes a fun wave under 400cfs down to 120cfs. Best way to enter Beavers will likely be where the railing ends just as you walk up under the overpass on the trail and then slosh up the shallow river sandbar up to the wave. The bike trail officially re-opens next week or following, so you got to walk round the block barrier and say hello to the campers. Park at Johnson-Habitat Park and walk up river on the bike path.
Golden is surfable but probably will find that Chiclets at RRP would be better today. Dave’s Wave is blown out at the flow up their now.
Water is cold so bring the thicker wetties.
PS, Scout Wave in Salida is going off. A front ranger crew is up there now. Watch for leash entanglement on the wood planks. Do yourself a favor and surf w/out a leash at Scout, it is not that difficult. Also better to lose your board than your life due to a “hold down” and unable to find your quick release mechanism in a split second.
