Eric F. is one of the WaveShaper volunteers at RRP who helps adjust the waves as need be depending on flow changes out of Chatfield Damn. Eric and Adam T (another WaveShaper volunteer) along with the watchful eyes of the lead WaveShaper Volunteer and Ben Nielsen, increased the number of surfable wave hours at Wave Sixx by at least 80% by proving that Wave Sixx no longer needed “baby sitting”, could be shaped, and left safely shaped 24 hours a day.
Eric is one of the fastest side to side surfers at Wave Sixx in Denver railing his board wall to wall. He is also quick to let you know to “stop yapping and drop in” or move to the side to let others surf. Eric with one of his speedster backside slashes at Sixx graced the cover of Westword (Denver’s independent weekly news magazine) in 2021.
It is not easy being a WaveShaper volunteer balancing out flow changes, work-life and personal-life, while putting up with river surfers demanding the best shaped waves possible… So, next time you see Eric at the wave, thank him for stepping up and giving back to the Denver area river surf community with his service as a WaveShaper volunteer for Sixx and Benihanas.
