People love to hate on Dave’s Wave because they think the water is straight-up sewer water. Guess they never have surfed SoCal after a rain event where actual untreated sewage is overwhelmed by stormwater and human crap/piss is dragged straight into the ocean. Denver, unlike SoCal, separates the waste treatment system from storm drain water sytem.
Yes, effluent after processed, is returned to the S. Platte, but in reality the water is cleaner than what is in the S. Platte River. Full disclosure, the Suncor Plant down river has been known to illegally discharge pollutants into the river well south of Dave’s Wave; but you know what, the Arkansas and Colorado also have toxic chemicals leaching into the headwaters and streams that feed those rivers.
Pick your poison, don’t drink the water, and Dave’s Wave isn’t all that bad. Could be worse, you could be breathing the air in Metro Denver..
